Troy Balderson says he is happy with the decision to be the new 20th District Senator.
Balderson was appointed to the position Tuesday, and says it is great to have the respect of his colleagues and constituents.
"It's been a nerve racking last 48 hours." he said. "I've gotten a lot of nice compliments, a lot of nice phone calls, a lot of nice e-mails. It's been hectic, probably a couple hundred phone calls, but that part of it is the fun part."
Balderson says he would like to focus on energy because it has the ability to bring jobs to the area. He will be leaving for an energy conference on Sunday.
"A real lot has not changed for me, as far as how I'm going to represent the district." said Balderson. "Obviously there will be more counties now that I will be dealing with, but I have people in place to help me."
He also hopes to make Broadband available throughout the 20th district, which includes Muskingum, Morgan, Noble, Guernsey, Coshocton, Athens, Meigs, and Monroe counties.
Balderson will cover the last sixteen months of the term vacated by former Senator Jimmy Stewart. He will then be able to run for election in 2012.
