One church was filled with activity Saturday afternoon in attempt to bring out the community.

Zaneville's Central Trinity United Methodist Church and the Muskingum County Red-Cross teamed-up to host their first ever Summer Festival. The event has been 3 months in the planning and it would appear no activity was overlooked...The day stepped off serving breakfast then continued to included a flea market, craft show, car show, battle of the bands, and tournaments in cornhole, basketball and golf putting. Trustee, Rommy Bunker, said you can never be too prepared.

"A lot has went into planning it but not enough," said Bunker. "It's our fist year and we are seeing a lot of things we could do different."

One part of the event Coordinator Cherie Fisher said won't be done differently is the coordination with Red-Cross to promote the blood drive. Cherie Fisher said the church sponsors a blood-drive about every eight weeks and Saturday provided an opportunity to promote that need.

"I was looking for a mission with the church and I'm a nurse and so the blood-drive seemed to be a fit for me," said Fisher. "So I've been doing that for about a year and a half now."

There was no set goal to raise but all funds will go towards a new church roof and to the Red-Cross. If you are interested in donating blood, a drive will be held this Monday at the Trinity United Methodist Church on 7th Street from 1-7:00pm.
