Dick Sorg Retirement

A retirement party was held Thursday for a well known local Program Administrator.

Dick Sorg, from the Muskingum Soil and Water Conservation District says after nearly forty years, retirement hasn't really sunk in yet, but he is excited for what the next forty years have to offer.

"I'll stay involved with a lot of community organizations." said Sorg. "Whether it's the Farm Bureau, The National Wild Turkey Federation, I'm sure in some fashion with the local Soil and Water District and other programs they have going on, if they need help. A lot of state programs, I'll continue to serve on the state board with the Ohio Forestry Association."

Sorg says he will stay fairly busy, and plans to catch up on some work on his farm, which he says he has let go over the past few years. He says he will also miss working with landowners.

"It was a challenge in working with them, trying to solve whatever problem it was." he said. "Whether it for drainage, or building a pond, or whatever it might have been, but it was working with them and solving their problem. Whether it was being able to utilize a field or development area. I probably got as much personal satisfaction out of seeing that as they did."

He says it's mind-boggling to see so many people gather at his retirement party, all just congratulate him. His retirement will officially be effective next Friday, July 29th.
