A Zanesville business suffers major damage after a fire around 6pm Wednesday.
Authorities are calling the fire at Zane Trace Clean Care Uniforms at 763 Putnam Avenue suspicious. According to Zanesville Assistant Fire Chief David Huey the owner's alarm system indicated a break-in that was shortly followed by the fire alarm.
"It's just suspicious given the circumstances," said Huey. "The place was closed and secured and they did have an alarm activation. That's all we really know at this point."
Video Surveillance was taken by Zanesville Police Department as evidence. Huey said most damage was to the front of the building. He estimates damage of between $20- 30,000. At this time damage to customer inventory in not clear.
"Making sure we don't have any smoldering spots," said Huey. "As far as laundry operations, so there is piles and baskets and clothes of inventory, a lot of materials that can hold smoldering material for a while if you don't make sure it's all out."
Zanesville Fire and Police Department were on the scene. The fire remains under investigation.
