Do you have a great invention, but aren't sure how to patent the idea?

Muskingum County Business Incubator is teaming up with TechGrowth Ohio to help local inventors patent their business, product or idea. Executive in Residence Sherry Stewart said the Appalachia Ohio area is full of inventors and people with patents on ideas, but many times these individuals will not follow-through to market the product.

"Be proactive and understand your idea is time sensitive," expressed Stewart. "It usually is an answer to the needs of today so we want to be sure we give people assistance to move forward."

Two experienced local entrepreneurs from T&M Tactical will share their experiences with the United States Patent and Trademark process. Stewart said the two inventors have a background in law enforcement and developed a high intensity light to wear as a part of their gloves. She said the team would often times have a flashlight in one hand, a gun in the other and no free hand to defend themselves.

"By eliminating the need to hold a flashlight, they freed-up a hand and sometimes that can mean a huge difference in certain situations," said Stewart.

The Inventor's Event is open to the public and will take place Tuesday, August 16th. Registration is $39. To RSVP contact MCBI at 740-453-3649 or you can register online at mcbi.info.
