The Lancaster Post of the State Highway Patrol announces an OVI checkpoint for Friday evening.
The checkpoint will take place in Fairfield County and is funded by federal grant funds. It is planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers.
Lt. Craig Cvetan commander of the Lancaster Post said, "Based on provisional data there were 429 OVI related fatal crashes in which 478 people were killed last year in Ohio.
State Troopers make on average of 25,000 OVI arrests each year. The location of the checkpoint will be announced Friday morning.
