It might not be Veterans Day, but those who served our country were honored at Zane's Landing Park today.

The Knights of Columbus organized a dinner cruise aboard the Lorena Sternwheeler for hospitalized veterans.  Chairman Bill Moyer said the veterans enjoy homemade food and good company.

"You'll notice that they're very happy because they don't get out that often, so when they do, they really love it," said Moyer.

Moyer said this event has been going on for 15 years, and he sees many of the same faces every summer.  District 3 Veterans Director Carl Kroskey said people keep coming back because they feel appreciated.

"It gives them an idea that society has not forgotten them in any way just because they're in the hospital," said Kroskey.

Veterans also receive t-shirts, sweatshirts and hats at the end of the cruise.
