A double amputee Marine veteran is rolling through southeastern Ohio on a mission.
Dave Barr lost both of his legs in a land mine explosion. He rides his motorcycle all over the world to encourage others to overcome their obstacles. Barr said his procession into Malta on Thursday was an emotional experience.
"I was almost brought to tears when we came under two laddering companies with the flags hanging from the cranes on the trucks, because that's something they generally do for fallen firefighters and to honor one of their own for something very special," said Barr.
Barr has earned two Guinness World Records for his adventures, but he said he's more proud of the money he raises for his charity. Barr promotes the Fisher House, a facility that supports families of injured service men and women. He said it's his duty to help people.
"Your duty to this world and your destiny will only end when they stick you in the box," said Barr.
