The church has left the building - at least that's what volunteers at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church are saying.

Pastor Mark Matzke said the Zanesville church is metaphorically tearing down the walls to bring the community together for a good cause.  He said members of the church are mailing care packages to service men and women overseas.

"We have a lot of members of our congregation who are military families," said Matzke.  "It's a cause that's very close to home for us."

Matzke said volunteers filled about 75 boxes with snacks, toiletries and handmade cards.  Volunteer Eric Dudley said he's happy to help our troops.

"I think I'm helping because this is my country, and I'm going to serve my country when I get older," said Dudley.  "I want them to know that I love them, and I want them to love me."

This is the first time Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church has participated in Serve Fest.
