You no longer have to listen to an out of town radio station to hear your favorite country music.
WHIZ Media Group President Hank Littick, Monday, announced the arrival of a new country music station in Southeastern Ohio, Highway 103.7.
"We're really excited that 103.7 is on the air. We've nicknamed it Highway 103. We kicked it off a little bit last week," said President Hank Littick. "We had to wait through some FCC regulations to get to 100 percent power and we got that notification on Friday. It's a country station and we're excited about that because country is a well listened to format in this area so it gives us another horse in our stable to say to attract another listening audience we didn't have previously."
Besides the music, which will include new hits to old favorites, Highway 103 will provide local news and pinpointed local weather forecasts from the WHIZ Storm Team Meteorologists.
"We hope to create a true local station in this area. This area hasn't have a hometown local country station in a long time and we think by providing local news and local weather by meteorologists, pinpoint weather accuracy and content such as that, programming that really impacts people and is relevant to them is what we think is going to separate Highway 103 from the others," explained Littick.
You may have already heard Highway 103.7. It's been on the air since last week at 50% power, now it's broadcasting at 100% power for your listening pleasure.
