Two remain in the hospital after a late night accident.

According to the State Highway Patrol it happened shortly before 11 o'clock Friday night on US 22 in Newton Township. 33-year-old Kimberly Rota of Zanesville was traveling westbound when she went left of center striking oncoming 53-year-old Kenneth Barney of Zanesville.

Authorities say Rota had a juvenile passenger in the vehicle. All three people involved were transported to Good Samaritan Hospital. The juvenile was treated and released. Rota and Barney remain under observation.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash. The juvenile passenger was wearing her safety belt at the time. State Highway Patrol say it is unclear if Rota and Barney were wearing theirs.

The accident remains under investigation.
