Miss Ohio paid a visit to the Y-City Wednesday evening.
She stopped at Primrose Retirement Community as part of her state wide bike tour to raise money for the Children's Miracle Network, a partner with the Miss America organization.
"I became a volunteer with Dayton Children's Hospital a couple years ago and I've gotten to know a lot of the children there, a lot of their families, saw them go through some of the treatments and process and it really just touched my heart how strong these kids are , how determined they are to get through anything and through it all, how much of a positive attitude and how happy they are. As Miss Ohio, it's just something I can do to give back," said Ellen Bryan, Miss Ohio 2011.
Executive Director Shala Steinman says Wednesday's event is Primrose's 30th annual 50's Style Party and was thrilled to have Miss Ohio make an appearance.
"They love it. All day, they've been peaking out the windows checking everything out, seeing what's going on. The weather forecast they've been talking about all day and so we got wet once earlier today, but we dried all the tablecloths and got them back out here in time for the party," said Steinman.
Miss Ohio sang at Wednesday's event along with talking with various primrose residents. Her next stop on her state wide tour is New Philadelphia.
