The headache of resurfacing Maple Avenue in Zanesville continues.
ODOT District 5 Deputy Director Joe Rutherford says resurfacing the five lane portion of Maple began last week after the two lane portion of 60 north of the city was completed. Monday began the main milling process of the middle lane which was supposed to start right after Labor Day.
"We didn't get that so there was a couple days we lost over the summer for weather. But we started the intersections on Monday the 12th and we started the main line here on the 19th," said Rutherford.
Rutherford says motorists, of course, can expect delays and are advised to take alternate routes if possible as workers work to finish repaving.
"They've started in the middle. Once the middle lane is done, then we'll use that as a thru lane once we start working on the outside lanes so there will be a lot of cones, some traffic shifts, changeable message signs out here so motorists are going to have to pay attention to the conditions around them," said Rutherford.
The entire project is expected to be completed by October 31st.
