One person is dead after a crash closed the westbound lanes of State Route 16.
The accident happened on Thursday around 8:30 PM, just west of State Route 146 in Hanover Township. The State Highway Patrol, Hanover Township EMS and the Licking County Sheriff's Office responded to the call.
"There was a gray Dodge Durango heading westbound in the right lane, and a homemade trike, which is a three wheel motorcycle, was also traveling westbound," said State Highway Patrol Sergeant Joshua Weaver. "The trike came up behind the Durango and hit its rear end."
Weaver said the impact sent the Durago down an embankment, where it turned onto its side. An adult and two children in the Durango were transported to Licking Memorial Hospital. The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene. All traffic was diverted off the highway, and an investigation is underway.
