The holiday season is right around the corner, meaning you'll begin to hear the bell ring and see the renowned Red Kettle outside many shopping centers.
The Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign will step-off November 7th and continue through the holiday season. Money collected will benefit families in need throughout Perry, Morgan and Muskingum Counties.
"Please put a dollar in or a quarter, what ever you feel," said Captain Diane Campbell. "If you want to write a check that's fine you can put that in there too."
Campbell said the Red Kettle has been a tradition of the Salvation Army since the 1800's. This year 17 kettles are available for the surrounding community but volunteers are still needed.
"We need all the volunteers we can have," explained Campbell, " because they're enthusiastic, they're smiling and they know a lot of people in the community."
If you're interested in volunteering contact the Salvation Army at (740) 452-8350. Volunteers will not be asked to ring on Sundays and Thanksgiving.
