A home in Zanesville opened it's doors to the community Monday to demonstrate the benefits of weatherizing your home.
Home Owner Charles Norris qualified through the Weatherization Assistance Program to have his home completely insulated, have a brand-new furnace and water heater installed, and any other necessary work to make the home more energy efficient.
"It's just great, I feel like crying," expressed Norris. "I feel blessed , I feel like this is a new birthday for me, I just want to thank everybody that is involved."
The Weatherization Assistance Program enables low-income families to permanently reduce their energy bills. In the past 2 years more than 8,000 homes in Southeast Ohio have received the benefits- saving an estimated $32-million over the life time of the products. Ohio Senator Troy Balderson said the money saved can then be placed back into the local economy.
"The biggest thing when we do it in the area here, we do use local companies, local employees, and that is very important," expressed Balderson.
