The Granville Post of the State Highway Patrol is investigating a one vehicle accident.

Authorities said it took place on State Route 79 near O'Neil Drive just north of the Hebron City Limits around 10 p.m. Wednesday night.

The patrol said 66-year-old Ramesh Patel, of Athens, was traveling south on S.R. 79 when he drove off the right side of the roadway and struck the guardrail. He then continued on and drove off the embankment of Beaver Run Creek, where he became airborne and landed in the creek.

His car then drifted into the culvert running under 79 where it became trapped. Patel was rescued by the Hebron Fire Department dive team and transported to Grant Hospital in serious condition.
