Jack-o-lanterns will soon be replaced by American flags in front yards across the country.
Veterans Day is on November 11th, and Zanesville is getting ready to celebrate its annual parade. Chairman Bud Johnson said there's something different about this year's holiday.
"This is the first time that it's the eleventh year," said Johnson. "It's 11/11/11, and it's not going to happen again until 2111, so it just adds a little bit of uniqueness to this year's parade."
He said over 100 groups are participating in the parade including veterans organizations, scout troops and downtown businesses. Johnson said as a veteran, it feels good to see his fellow service men and women appreciated for the sacrifices they've made.
"The past, the present and the future young people that protect and preserve the freedom that we have here in this country - this is basically about the only time anybody says thank you to them," said Johnson. "Come out and take an hour to thank the veterans."
The Veterans Day parade will take place on Saturday. The line will start to form at Secrest Auditorium at 8:30 AM.
