A vacant hair salon will re-open in remembrance of the previous owner Becky Zeigler.

Zeigler, who died of cancer nearly 8 years ago, was an active community member and the owner of Tangles Hair Salon on Linden Avenue. On Thursday, a close friend of Zeiglers celebrated the grand opening of Kelly Ray's Ace of Cuts in her memory.

"Very, very nice, laid back girl," explained owner Kelly Ray of Zeigler. "She always had a smile on her face, always made you smile. You could be having the worst day, come in for a hair cut and you're walking out laughing."

The building has been empty since Zeigler's death. The opening marks Zanesville's 37th ribbon cutting in just more than 2 years. Mayor Butch Zwelling said it represents more than a growing economy in Zanesville, it highlights the closeness of the community.

"They still have things in her memory and she'll be remembered for many, many, years to come," said Zwelling.

Kelly Ray's Ace of Cuts Hair Salon is located at 1426 Linden Avenue, just across form A-1 Heating and Cooling.
