It seem the holiday season is already in the air and for many the season wouldn't be complete without the image of Marines collecting toys for the children in need.
As part of the authorized Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program Chairperson Marsha Harmon invited the community to the Muskingum County Fairgrounds for the annual spaghetti dinner and live auction to raise money for the tradition.
"We have such a giving community that steps forward every year to help us do this," said Harmon. 'It's very important for these kids to know that they are remembered during this time."
Money raised from the day will be used to buy toys for area kids. Corporate sponsors will provide the toys at a discounted rate. Harmon has been organizing the charity for nearly 15 years.
"I guess years and years ago as a child myself I was always encouraged to go through my toys at Christmas time to donate them to a child that might need it," said Harmon. "When this program came along it was just the perfect opportunity for me to be able to do that."
Toys and donations will be accepted through December 3rd. If you would like to make a donation or for more details visit www.toysfortotsorg.
