Genesis Healthcare System received national recognition.

Genesis received the nation's first Atrial Fibrillation certificate from the Society of Chest Pain Centers. A-FIBB, at it is known, is the most common cardiac arrhythmia and is known to lead to stroke and possible death.

"The team came in they looked at the hospital, they looked at the level of the service, they looked at our competency in treating patience with this kind of arrhythmia and we were awarded the highest level of competence," said Director of Arrhythmia Services Magdy Migeed.

Dr. Magdy Migeed first began working with the Genesis' Arrhythmia Service two years ago- that's when the program first began. He said they have since grown to treat more than 1,000 cases a year.

"The volume is tremendous here and the fact that we do complex cases puts us apart form other smaller towns in the country," said Migeed. "We're privileged to have a team of professionals in this hospital that include cardiac surgeons, interventions, cardiologists and arrhythmia ."

Also recognized at Friday's event- Genesis' Newly achieved status as an accredited Chest Pain and Trauma Center.
