After the Black Friday rush, shoppers are encouraged to shop locally on Small Business Saturday.

Executive Director of Muskingum County Business Incubator Carol Humphreys said the day has gained in popularity. It's a time for holiday shoppers to support the stores that invest in the community.

"They give their time, they give their resources, they're always the first one when there is some kind of event going on raising money for our community, they're always the first one to step-up," explained Humphreys.

Humphreys said small businesses not only offer unique products, but often times a more personalized, quality service.

"The small businesses are growing because not only do they get return clients, but the word of mouth on how a client was treated and the product they got," said Humphreys. "It really helps them to be able to grow and prosper."

Humphreys said small businesses employ more than 65% of today's work force.
