It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in downtown Zanesville.
The Y-city is preparing for many events throughout the month of December. Zanesville Downtown Association Manager Dana Matz said the Miracle on Main Street celebration will take place on Wednesday.
"It's a great chance for folks to get out of their cars and experience downtown Zanesville," said Matz. "They can walk around, see the businesses and check out the buildings that have been fixed up in the last couple of years. It's a great way to enjoy the holiday spirit."
About 45 businesses are participating in the celebration that kicks off the Festival of Trees. Matz said he encourages everyone to preview the trees, wreaths and stockings in the auction.
"We have a tree made out of Volkswagen engine parts, and there's a display being built right now with the base as a Christmas tree and then it morphs into a mannequin wearing clothing from the 1800s, which is really neat," said Matz. "We also have a glider with Ohio State emblems on it for the buckeye fans."
Miracle on Main Street starts at 5 PM on Wednesday with the tree lighting ceremony at the courthouse at 6:30 PM. The Festival of Trees auction is on Friday from 9 to 6 PM at the Muskingum County Welcome Center. WHIZ will broadcast the auction on AM 1240 radio.
