The Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office says a trial date has been set for four men accused of trying to steal a dead lion in October. The Lion was released during the Terry Thompson exotic animal incident on Kopchak Road. The men – who are facing misdemeanor theft charges are identified as 21-year-old Joseph Jakubisin of Cambridge, 21-year-old Brian Matthews of Kimbolton, 20-year-old Richard Wedlich of Cambridge and 21-year-old Cody Wilson of Byesville. A juvenile involved in the incident is not being identified. The trail will take place in County Court on January 6th, 2012. The Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office says the group was stopped after they loaded the lion’s body into the back of a jeep several hours after the animal had been set free by its owner. Sheriff’s Deputies were forced to kill 48 wild animals after Thompson opened their cages on October 18th and then committed suicide.
