39 children and adults from Starlight School were treated to a holiday party with a visit from Santa Claus and presents.

For the 24th year, Mid-East Career and Technology Centers Student Council sponsored an Adopt-A-Child party at the Starlight School in Zanesville. Mid-East Student Council Advisor, Sue Lake, says students participated in a visit to Starlight School in the beginning of December where the high school students were able to meet the adoptees.

"We average between 35 and 40 students a year that we adopt and we spend about 75 dollars on each child so its kind of grown and it's gotten to the point where I don't know what I would do without it," said Lake.

Lake says 150 students at Mid-East participated in the program this year. She says Adopt-A-Child has the greatest impact on the high school students who have the opportunity to share the holiday season with the community.

"I think it's real important. The number one reason I think it is is because I think high school students need that interaction to know what the world is like out there and what they can do to help the world and to help people who maybe aren't as fortunate as them," said Lake.

The students at the Zanesville Campus raised around 4-thousand dollars for the project through donations and fundraising activities.
