The Zanesville-Muskingum County Port Authority has agreed to sell land to Halliburton and that means 300 jobs for our area.
One of the world's largest providers in the energy industry, Halliburton is a Fortune 500 Company. The board voted Friday morning to sell approximately 178-acres of the EastPointe Business Park for their development.
"They're projecting that they would create 300 jobs in three years, so that's the most significant part of it," emphasized Executive Director Mike Jacoby. "The other thing is you know Halliburton is in the Fortune 150, they're a very large company, publicly traded company, very recognizable company and people pay attention to what Halliburton does."
Jacoby said Halliburton has indicated that the land will be used as an operations hub to support customers in the Utica Shale development. Jacoby said the property being sold is part of the EastPointe Job Ready Site, featuring a 100-acre graded and compacted pad with all utilities.
"They're going to invest quit a bit in the land to prepare it, build some buildings, we're talking about extending some rail to the site," said Jacoby. "There will be significant investment and job creation and we hope it'll be the start of more good things."
The agreement calls for a 60-day due diligence period before closing. Jacoby said once the deal closes Halliburton will be the third Fortune 500 Company located in the EastPointe Business Park.
