One man is in the hospital after a Tuesday morning shooting in the area of Thurman Street in Zanesville.
Police said officers were called to 507 Thurman Street at about 10:30AM. A resident of the home, Angela Davis, said the man who was shot and two other people were currently staying with her family. She said when the visitors left that morning she was under the impression they were going to pick up cigarettes and the next thing she knew a shooting took place.
Davis said she hardly knew the three visitors and had met them at the Salvation Army. She said she was under the impression they were unable to stay at the Salvation Army because of over crowding. Her main concern is now her family's safety.
"I have three boys and I have my niece here that also just had a 4-month-old daughter," explained Davis. "I did forewarn them, over there at the hospital, that unfortunately they will not be able to come back to my house just for the simple fact that I'm concerned about my kid's safety."
Captain Ken Miller said detectives are interviewing witnesses to determine the circumstances and location of the actual shooting. No other details have been released by police.
