The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for our area, and that means the Ohio Department of Transportation has already been working to get ready for the snow that coming our way.
Muskingum County ODOT Manager Ray Dailey said with any winter storm, timing is everything.
"We have a little bit of salt residue left over from the previous storm, so it will basically be trying to time it out so that our trucks will be out there either right before or as the snow actually begins to hit the pavement," said Dailey.
Crews have been scheduled overnight to keep up with the snowfall. Dailey said its important for motorist to give snow plows the room they need to do the job.
"If you see our vehicles give them a little extra distance," added Dailey. "Salt, when it comes out of the back of the truck, needs a few minutes to start working, so don't crowd our trucks, don't crowd the plows if you see them coming from the opposite direction."
Dailey remarked that with the mild winter, the county is in no danger of running low on salt
