The Muskingum Valley chapter of the American Red Cross is hoping to raise money.
The organization is holding a pancake breakfast Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Applebee's restaurant on Maple Avenue.
Red cross Development Director Troy Alford said the money raised will go towards the Disaster Relief Fund.
"So far they've had 40 fires over the five counties that they serve, and each fire ranges from $500 to $1,000 depending on the size of the family. So with 40 fires our funding seems to go pretty quick," said Alford.
Tickets are still available for the event at a cost of $5.
Alford said he often sees families come back to charity events to support the organization that supported them in their time of need.
"We get people that we've helped in the past come in, and they pay it forward, and that's what we are there for, we are there for the community. $.92 out of every dollar donated to this organization goes right back into our community," added Alford.
The month of March is National American Red Cross Month.
