Health Department Renovations Update

The beginning of March means one thing for the health department each year...

The Zanesville-Muskingum County Health District Advisory Council will held its annual meeting Wednesday evening. Health Commissioner Corey Hamilton said she always tells the council the number one priority is financial accountability.

"It's always high on our list to make sure that we can live within our means and provide services in the county, within the funding that we have available to us. Beyond that, we'll talk about our relationship to some of the buzz topics that are happening in the county," said Hamilton.

One of the biggest buzz topics this year is the shale drilling and how it will affect our area. Hamilton said the meeting looks at last year's highlights, but focuses on current year projects.

"I think it's just a good annual update. It's always good to look back and see what you've accomplished over the last year and also to look forward to what you have on your agenda for the new year, and it's just a great time to touch base with all of those elected officials."

The meeting took place at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.
