An East Muskingum Local Schools bus was involved in an injury accident Tuesday.

According to the Trooper Scott Bayless with the State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 2:45 p.m. on U.S. 40 near the Sav-A-Step Drive-Thru just outside of New Concord.

Trooper Bayless says an SUV was eastbound on 40 when it slowed to make a right turn into a driveway. The school bus then rear-ended the vehicle. When the two collided the SUV was pushed off the side of the road and rolled over.

Two people in the car were taken to Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital with minor injuries. Thirty-six students were on the bus at the time of the crash, but no one on board the bus was injured.

Trooper Bayless says the driver of the school bus was cited with failure to assure clear distance ahead.
