City officials and the Fraternal Order of Police/Ohio Labor Council agree to terms of fact finding recommendations.

At a Zanesville City Council meeting earlier this month the council voted to accept the fact finding recommendations from the state employment relations board.

Last Thursday, the Police Union, voted 14-4 to also accept the terms. The deal does give raises but because of changes with the pension pick up, Mayor Jeff Tilton said it evens out.

"It helps the city because now we can make sure we know what to do with the budget the more we move forward from here," said Tilton.

The city now turns to reaching an agreement with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees.

"We are now in that fact finding phase of that," said Tilton. "We are right now deciding on a fact finder and when we can set up that meeting so that's in the near future."

The AFSCME covers sanitation, sewer, street and water department workers among others. City Council will discuss the budget at the next council meeting.
