If you have expired or unused drugs, the Drug Enforcement Agency wants them...
National Prescription Drug Take Back Day will be held on April 28th at the Muskingum County Jail. Sheriff Matt Lutz said there's only one restriction as to what you can bring.
"Obviously we don't take any kind of illegal substances. But as far as everything else, we've got such a good collaboration with everybody in our community, that we're taking sharps, the needles that people have discarded, we're taking liquids, and a lot of other places aren't doing that," said Lutz.
Prescription drug abuse has increased over the past three to four years. Lutz said it's important to dispose of them properly and as soon as possible.
"Part of that prescription abuse is people leaving it in their homes and then homes getting broke into and people specifically looking for prescription meds. You know, it's one of the biggest thefts between family members."
