Sometimes it's tough to return a good book to the library, but an event this weekend is allowing readers to keep certain books for a small fee.
The John McIntire Library in Zanesville is holding its "Buck-A-Bag-Of-Books" sale. Assistant Director Blair Tom said anyone can buy a bag from the Friends of the Muskingum County Library System and stuff it full of books for just a dollar.
"Some books are no longer borrowed because newer books are in the collection, and many of them are donated to us by community members," said Tom. "We can't use all of them in the library collection, but they share them with us so that the Friends of the Muskingum County Library System can sell them to raise funds."
Tom said the program has proved to be very successful in the past. He said it's a great opportunity for kids to create home libraries.
"It's so fun to watch them," said Tom. "They're very serious about their selections, and there's that surprise when they actually get to keep those books. They don't have to return them, so it's a good way for them to have books at home that they can have as their own."
The sale will take place at the John McIntire Library on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
