The 26th Annual Carr Center Cake Auction is in the books, and there is a lot to celebrate.
This year's Cake Auction raised roughly $140,000-- nearly $10,000 more than last year.
Carr Center Executive Director, John Hajjar is pleased to have raised more money with less cakes than in years past.
"They just come out here in droves, they bid and bid, and as we've been saying, it's a wonderful combination, or perfect mixture of bakers bidders and buyers," said Hajjar.
The proceeds benefit the Carr Center's many programs, including adult daycare, and speech therapy for preschool and school-aged children.
Hajjar said the extra cake is shared with those less fortunate.
"When people either don't need all of the cakes that they buy, or there are some left over, they very generously donate them to area charities-- you know the food pantries and so on, we're grateful and pleased to be able to do that," added Hajjar.
The top selling cakes came from the event sponsors, raising nearly $30,000 combined in the last half hour of the auction.
