The Muskingum County Board of Elections will have a new home after the fall...
Board members toured the old Work Release facility on Old Adamsville Road Monday to discuss what renovations will be made. Board of Elections Director Chris Hamill said the move is necessary.
"We need to move out of where we are due to the Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center will be needing the area that we're in. So, if we come here, we can make it to suit our needs, and we will have a permanent location here for the Board of Elections," said Hamill.
The move will cost the board of elections less, because the facility is county-owned. Hamill said saving money is just one of the benefits.
"It's a bigger area. We would have more room to work with, it's easy to get to, the parking would be much easier for voters when they come to vote."
Hamill said the Board of Elections will not move until after the November general election.
