State Route 146 in Muskingum County was shut down for hours Friday afternoon following a tanker truck rollover.

The crash occurred around 4:30 near Clay Littick Drive. According to Jeff Jadwin with the Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency, the tanker went off the roadway landing in a creek rupturing the fuel tanks and oil panel in the truck.

Jadwin says the load the truck was carrying was not hazardous.

"It's powdered cement. It's a truck that's used for fracking oil wells and such," says Jadwin.

Jadwin says the roadway had to be shut down completely, because a special crew needed to be called in to clean up the creek. Also, in the accident the truck sheared a power pole, which had to be replaced by AEP.

"These things happen and it's an inconvenience for people that are trying to travel on the State Route, because of the detour right now but we work as quickly as we can to get this back opened up," he says.

The crash knocked out power to a sub-division and the Licking Township Fire Station. AEP says the hope to have power fully restored by 8 p.m.
