Southeastern Ohio got a taste of the "old west" this weekend...
The Pritchard Laughlin Civic Center hosted the Hopalong Cassidy Festival on Friday and Saturday. Hugh O'Brien from TV's "Wyatt Earp" made a special appearance. The event also featured a western antiques sale.
"We have people from all over the United States who bring in their western collectibles... And then we have people from all over the United States who come to buy them! There's quality, and quantity and price," said Laura Bates of the Festival Planning Committee.
This year's attendance set a new record for the festival. Organizers say the event will continue to be an annual tradition, as long as people enjoy it.
"I doubt if I can do it for 22 more years, but hopefully for a few more years, you know. And hopefully the committee will be well enough, knowledgeable... By the time I get ready to quit, they can keep it on."
The planning committee will meet this week to start preparing for next year's festival.
