Z-ville Man Indicted For Assaulting Jailers

A 28-year-old Zanesville man is indicted by a Muskingum County Grand Jury for assaulting two corrections officers.  Zanesville Police Detective Sergeant Ric Roush says on May 3rd in the visitation area of the City Jail Colt Lightfoot became belligerent and began slamming a jail telephone.  Roush says when approached by officers Lightfoot assaulted them.  Officer Mike Boals suffered a minor injury to his left arm and forehead resulting in concussion-like symptoms.  Officer Tom Brown suffered a minor injury to his right elbow.  Lightfoot was originally in jail on petty theft and criminal trespass charges. Roush says Lightfoot also is facing four counts of breaking and entering, seven counts of theft and one count each of burglary and tampering with evidence.  Lightfoot – is scheduled for arraignment for the new charges next Wednesday and goes on trial June 14th.
