The city of Zanesville and AFSCME Local 1573 have agreed to a new labor pact.
On Friday the union voted 31 to 28 in favor of the contract. Mayor Jeff Tilton said only two-thirds of the eligible employees placed a vote.
He said the two sides met earlier this month with State Employment Relations Board Fact Finder William Lewis. City council approved the fact finder's recommendations during Monday night's meeting.
The issues at stake included wages, seasonal employees, sick leave, promotions, demotions, transfers and the insurance schedule. Tilton said contracts were settled with police and firefighters several months ago.
