The State Highway Patrol said alcohol may have been a factor in an accident Saturday evening.
Trooper Stephen Williams said the driver of a Jeep Wrangler was traveling westbound on Old Wheeling Road when he clipped an underground phone line and a private gas well before crashing into a utility pole.
"The driver was transported to Good Samaritan Medical Center for medical treatment, and we do believe that alcohol was a factor in this crash," said Williams.
The name of the driver has not been released at this time.
Williams said he hopes this accident will serve as a reminder to designate a driver.
"Obviously there are more people out driving when the weather is nicer," added Williams. "Any person that's going to or from some type of event or something, there's always that temptation after they've had a few to drive home, and we encourage people to get somebody to drive for them, and not be in this situation."
Williams said the driver could face a failure to control charge as well as a possible OVI.
