Muskingum SWCD Puts On Camp Adventure

Kids are exploring the outdoors and learning the importance of conserving our natural resources.

Every year the Muskingum Soil and Water Conservation District puts on Camp Adventure at Friendly Hills Grange Camp.  Education and Wildlife Specialist Nicole Hafer said children can participate in two days of activities.

"The kids get to go to five different stations that are based on a theme," said Hafer.  "This year's theme is water and the importance of water quality."

Some of the stations include stream exploration, amphibians and backyard gardening.  Hafer said kids need to get off the couch and exercise even when school is out for the summer.

"I think a lot of them just like to be outside and have a different variety of activities to do," said Hafer.  "They like the live fish, and of course, we have live amphibians with us today.  The kids always like the animals, so that's a good experience."

About 100 kids registered for the program.  For more information, visit www.muskingumswcd.org.
