An area non-profit organization is showing off its renovations thanks to a $35,000 grant.

The Walmart Foundation's State Giving Program presented the Zanesville Day Nursery Association with the big check.  Nursery Director Angie Kaiser said the funds have already been put to good use.

"The big change is a completely new kitchen," said Kaiser.  "We have a brand new convection oven for the first time, we have a dishwasher sanitizer, we have new cabinets and we have all new flooring.  It'll allow us to keep our food and equipment safe and sanitary to meet all of the new codes."

Kaiser said the center serves 77 children and has been a part of the Zanesville community for nearly 100 years.  Walmart is celebrating its 50th anniversary, and Market Manager Steve Kisabeth said there's no greater gift than giving back.

"This week Walmart is issuing checks in the state of Ohio to the tune of $455,000," said Kisabeth.  "We're pretty excited to see some of that money come here to Zanesville."

Organizations submit applications through the Walmart Foundation State Giving Program's online grant application.
