Child Killed in Crash

One child is dead and another taken to the hospital by helicopter following a head-on crash in Licking County.

According to the Lancaster Post of the State Highway Patrol, 20-year-old Andrew Gayheart of Utica was traveling southbound on State Route 13 near Ginger Hill Road when he lost control of his vehicle and went left-of-center just before 2 p.m. Monday afternoon.

Gayheart's car hit a northbound van driven by 52-year-old Brenda Hoadley of Newark.

A 9-year-old passenger in Gayheart's vehicle, Addison Craft of Utica, was pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger 5-year-old , Keydence Harstine also of Utica, was flown to Children's Hospital in Columbus with non life-threatening injuries.

The drivers of both vehicles were taken by ambulance to Licking Memorial Hospital. The crash remains under investigation.
