Those looking for a break from the heat and humidity had many options available to stay cool.
Tom's Ice Cream Bowl, a staple in the Zanesville community, was filled nearly to capacity Tuesday afternoon with patrons enjoying their favorite cold treats.
Customers old and young took a load off while they enjoyed everything from hot fudge sundaes to sorbets and even classic cones.
Owner Bill Sullivan said the heat definitely brings a big boom to business.
"The heat really brings the people in especially when it gets in the 90s and 95 degree range because of the fact that it's just a relief, it's too hot to even go to the swimming pool," said Sullivan.
Sullivan said many of his older customers have a hard time with the heat and like to come in to and refresh themselves in the air conditioning and enjoy a scoop of his award winning ice cream.
With above average temperatures forecasted to continue, Sullivan said some days it's hard to keep up with the demand.
"It looks like it's going to continue to go on for a while, so that's good for business," remarked Sullivan. "We can't make it fast enough right now. We make our ice cream here so we're making it almost day or night just to keep up."
Sullivan added he loves seeing the smiles on his patron's faces while they enjoy his tasty treats.
