Thornville Man Dies During Altercation

Authorities said a Thornville man died after an altercation.

The Lancaster Post of the State Highway Patrol said it happened Monday around 9 p.m. on Township Road 1066 at Township Road 1064 in Thorn Township in Perry County. 

They said 51-year-old James Foucht, of Thornville, began assaulting a man at a residence off Township Road 1066. That man attempted to flee in his truck.

Foucht held onto the side of the truck in an attempt to continue the assault. He fell after a short distance. 

He was then taken to Licking County Memorial Hospital where he died of his injuries. 

The other man was transported to Licking Memorial where he was treated and released for injuries sustained during the assault. 

The patrol said the reason for the altercation is unknown at this time and remains under investigation.
