A new play debuted at the Renner Theatre the weekend of July 21st.
The Zane Trace Players presented "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat". The show was directed by 35-year theatre veteran Alice Mauk. She and choreographer sis Bowman had high expectations for their musical presentation.
"Well you have rock, you have calypso, you have jazz, you have everything and of course this lady has choreographed some fantastic dances. And this crew, they probably have one of the best voices of any group I have worked with," said Mauk.
The play tells the story of Joseph and his eleven brothers as they fight for their father's attention. The crowd for the first weekend has been underwhelming for the director and cast.
"I guess I've been disappointed. It's so-so, we've had a lot of walk-ins but next weekend, Friday, Saturday at eight, Sunday at two-thirty, and I think anyone that's seen the show will give word of mouth, 'you've gotta come see it'," said Mauk.
Tickets for next weekend's final three shows can be purchased online or at the theatre on 7th Street.
