Soccer enthusiasts join together to support a beloved coach.

Matt Brown, the boys coach at Philo, is battling cancer. Players gathered at the Field House Friday to help raise money for his medical expenses.

"A few of us were talking about how things we could help him raise money, and he loves soccer, he's very passionate about the sport, so we got a bunch of us to come out and play," said Eric Riley, a student at Muskingum University.

Current and former players as well as close friends have turned out in support of Brown, who is expected to make an appearance at the tournament tomorrow.

"We've got people from down at Rio Grande, we've got Muskingum University, some kids from there. We've got a few from Pennsylvania who are playing in college over in Pennsylvania. We've gotten a good amount to come out," said Riley.

The finals will take place Saturday at 5 p.m. at the Field House.
