Steelers Fans Support Special Olympics

The Terrible Towels don't usually make an appearance until fall, but today they made an exception.

Steelers supporters hit the Y-Bridge to raise money for Starlight School Special Olympics. The event was part of Terrible Towel Around the World, a campaign created by ESPN to show Steeler pride around the globe.

"Since I work with Special Olympics we decided to turn this into a fundraiser for Special Olympics.Steeler fans take their Terrible Towels around the world and since this is a pretty unusual landmark I decided I was going to get my picture taken on the bridge," said Toni Smith, nurse at Starlight School.

From there, Smith spread the word for more Steelers fans to join in, make a donation and become a part of the movement that helps people with developmental disabilities participate in the special Olympics.

"They need to pay for their activities, and to go to the state games in Columbus every year so we're trying to get them some funds," said Smith.
