The sounds of jazz and swing music echoed across the river at Zane's Landing Park Sunday night.
Zanesville native Dave Schubach returned to town with his seventeen piece Big Band for a free concert in the park. Concert goers brought lawn chairs and tapped their feet to the tunes of the past.
"We play big band music of the swing era from Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra arrangements, the things you would expect like 'In the Mood' and 'String of Pearls' things like that. We also are different in that we're going to play new things. We're going to play a Santana piece tonight. We're going to play two original songs of mine, I'm a composer also," said Schubach.
Schubach thought bringing this concert to Zanesville would be a great gift to the community. Columbus TV personality Chuck Gillespie performed as vocalist.
"He raises the bar, he raises the level. He's a professional entertainer, he sings in Columbus at the Valley Dale ballroom and we were lucky that he said yes when we asked him to sing with us," said Schubach.
Schubach has plans to play more shows in Zanesville with the location to be named in the future.
